It has now become a trend amongst youth to do shopping online, in fact it has become a craze. Gone are the days when people from far off villages used to go to cities for purchasing goods. Not only this even city folks don’t prefer to go to a showroom or a shop if they have to buy something, they like online shopping as it is more convenient, time saving and to top it all economical as well because of number of discounts which are being offered by different online shopping sites such as Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal and Shopclues.
When you buy a product or a service over the internet, instead of going to a traditional brick-and-mortar store, it is called online shopping. Online shopping is the process whereby consumers directly buy goods or services from a seller in real-time over the Internet. It is a form of electronic commerce. It helps us buying the products in shops all over the world through the internet.
You can purchase almost anything through online shopping— starting with groceries and greeting cards to cell phones and ringtones for the cell phones, everything can be purchased online. While most of the people still find it convenient to buy their groceries from the neighborhood shop but there are a number of people who are purchasing rail and air tickets over the Internet. In addition, people and corporates as well, are also purchasing a wide range of services online — such as a brokering service or job search service or hiring staff members.
What are the advantages of shopping online?
Online shopping is convenient, faster and sometimes also cheaper. For instance, rather than standing in a long queue and waiting for your turn to purchase a ticket, people are finding it simpler to log on to a website and buy whatever they need. In some instances, you may have to pay a premium for an online purchase but it is still preferred because the convenience factor is higher because it saves lot of precious time and hassles which are involved in traditional shopping.
With the emerging trend of online shopping, it has become so easy to send a gift to our near and dear ones whether they are sitting in a different city or a country. No one had ever thought that while sitting in Delhi we can send flowers, cakes or some other gifts to our friends living in Australia but through online shopping it’s like a dream come true.
However, online shopping is still a gamble because you don’t get to see the goods until they are delivered. When the product is shown online, it is glamorized in such a manner that many a times buyers are duped and when you place the order and the item is delivered to you it is exactly the opposite of what you wished for. Not only this sometimes we place the order for a branded product but what we get is a spurious one. In addition to this one needs to have a credit card, which a number of people in India do not possess. If one has a credit card, one becomes apprehensive whether it is safe to use it while paying for online shopping or not. Soall these factors shatter our faith in online shopping.
In spite of all this the trend of is gaining momentum and the testimony to the fact is that people have stopped going out even to buy the vegetables and fruits which earlier no one preferred to buy online with the fear that they might be stale while reaching home. However, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages but the shoppers have to use their wisdom and keep their device free of malware if they wish to enjoy the benefits of online shopping.
